Room Mate Giulia

This bold Patricia Urquiola-designed hotel features joyful interiors and is just a stone's throw from Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

Words by Harriet Thorpe

Celebrated Spanish architect and designer Patricia Urquiola is behind the friendly, colourful interiors of Room Mate Giulia, a boutique 85-room hotel set inside a late 19th century building a stone’s throw from Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and the Piazza del Duomo. Opened in 2014, the joyful interiors are inspired by 60s Milanese domestic design with vibrant hues of pink, green and bright blue on the walls, armchairs by Kartell and Moroso, grid patterned Kvadrat curtains, and local Italian materials such as terracotta bricks from Lombardy.
