Bar Luce

With pastel colours and pink terrazzo floors, this café looks straight out of a Wes Anderson film set

Words by Harriet Thorpe

This cinematic Wes Anderson-designed cafe located on the OMA-designed Fondazione Prada campus recreates a classic Milanese cafe with pastel colours, pink terrazzo floors, formica furniture, wooden panelling echoing Italian aesthetic culture of the 50s and 60s. Anderson was inspired by his short film Castello Cavalcanti (2013) as well as iconic Italian Neorealist films set in Milan such as ‘Miracolo a Milano’ 1951 by Vittorio De Sica and ‘Rocco e i suoi fratelli’ 1960 by Luchino Visconti. Be sure to pair your espresso and tiramisu with a visit to the retrospective of Italian artist and sculptor Pino Pascali (1935 – 1968). L.go Isarco 2, 20139 Milan
