The Nilufar gallery takes a modern, multicultural approach to curating design, blending works by contemporary talents

Words by Harriet Thorpe

Founded by Tehran-born Nina Yashar in 1979, the esteemed Nilufar gallery takes a modern, multicultural approach to curating design, blending works by contemporary talents (such as Martino Gamper and Bethan Laura Wood) with icons of modernism (think Gio Ponti, and Lina Bo Bardi). For Milan Design Week it presents ‘Time Traveler’, an exhibition across both Milan locations (the intimate Via della Spiga gallery and the vast 1,500-sqm ‘Depot’ in Viale Lancetti) that recognises the ‘symphony of journeys’ every object holds. The latest additions to in-house furniture range ‘Open Edition’ include pieces by Ryuichi Kozeki, Federica Perazzoli and Anna Karlin.
