A hub of Italian design history, present and future established in 1923

Words by Harriet Thorpe

A hub of Italian design history, present and future established in 1923, Triennale Milano is based in the 1930s Palazzo dell’Arte; home to an archive of 1,600 objects and the triennial exhibition of international design after which it is named. This year sees the re-opening of the ‘Centro Studi’ after 70 years and survey exhibitions on exuberant post-modernist Alessandro Mendini (featuring a tribute designed by Philippe Starck) and contemporary French designer Inga Sempé. During Milan Design Week, the Triennale hosts the 25th anniversary SaloneSatellite show of designers under-35.
